Vim & Vigor: Pantone’s 2023 Color of the Year is “Powerful and Empowering”
With a fearless vibrancy reminiscent of nature’s most vivid shades, Pantone’s Color of The Year, Viva Magenta 18-1750, pulsates with “vim and vigor.” This year’s chosen color was first selected by human fashion & design forecasters. The A.I. art tool Midjourney then interpreted their vision to create what Pantone describes as “the Magentaverse”, an immersive digital realm where people can explore ideas about the color.
A blend of warm and cool, Viva Magenta is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious and brightest natural dyes in the world. The carmine red is meant to signal boldness and joy while encouraging self-expression.
“In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute®.
Viva Magenta in the home could make a striking statement as a painted wall, in home décor and accessories, or as a bold accent in a pattern.
