Nourishment from Nature: “Living Coral” is Pantone’s 2019 Color of the Year

It’s vibrant yet mellow, an optimistic and life-affirming color that provides warmth, energy, and happiness in a rapidly changing environment. “Living Coral” was announced as the Pantone® Color the Year 2019, a choice the color experts at Pantone say was strongly influenced by the environment and the shelter coral reefs provide for a kaleidoscope of undersea life. The color is described as a comforting response to the “onslaught of digital technology and social media” in today’s world. Living Coral is a lighthearted hue, an expression of the human desire for joy and playfulness.

Color is an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute®, “With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord.”

Living Coral is a versatile color in interior design, adding coziness and a hint of retro style to any room in your whole home remodel or new home. Its base is orange rather than pink, which makes it flattering to most skin tones. Coral is sometimes used with shades of blue, communicating a beachy feel, or with muted grays or black in minimalist modern design. On its own it can make a bold splash as an accent wall or in elements such as rugs, blankets, and pillows.

Experimenting with color is one of the most creative and enjoyable aspects of the design build process! Our unified team of architects, designers, and construction professionals can help you explore color as a way to express your individuality in your new home or whole home remodel.
