It’s Very Peri: Pantone’s 2022 Color of the Year is the “Happiest and Warmest of Blues”

Fusing the steady tranquility of blue with an energetic infusion of red, Very Peri is the Pantone® Color of the Year 2022. For the first time in its history, Pantone custom-made an entirely new shade instead of choosing one from its archives. Inventing a new color reflects the “global innovation and transformation taking place,” says Laurie Pressman, VP of the Pantone Color Institute.

Pantone sees Very Peri as a symbol of our current zeitgeist and a vision for the future, a reflection of how our digital and physical lives are merging like never before. Inspired by the glow of touchscreens, the growth of experimentation in digital art, and the possibilities of the metaverse and a virtual reality, Very Peri evokes a modern view of imagination.

As we move into a world of unprecedented change, Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute®.

Very Peri is a courageous color for home interiors and could be a playful way to inject a pop of color with a painted wall or in lively accessories and decor. In the master bathroom shown above, a periwinkle shade on the walls balances with sparkling chandeliers and classic elements to create an inspiring and luxurious retreat.
