2023 Trend Watch: Butler’s Pantries Are At Your Service

In our annual review of the year’s emerging trends in home design, our design team pointed out that butler’s pantries are trending again. This once ubiquitous home feature is being rediscovered as a way to make meal prepping, bulk storage, and entertaining more elegant and seamless. Butler’s pantries allow for the most organized of kitchens, essential to stress-free living. Here are a few of our favorite butler’s pantries we’ve integrated into whole home remodels and new homes.

Mountain View Estate
In this Southern California estate on six acres influenced by Prairie style and Craftsman design, a butler’s pantry creates organized storage for pieces used during entertaining, as well as dedicated space for coffee and other beverages.

Family Gatherings
This kitchen designed for an active young family encompasses abundant storage and a layout ideal for entertaining. The modern take on a butler’s pantry creates a transition point between the dining space and the kitchen with organized access to serveware, coffee supplies, and wine glasses.

Elegant Tuscan
A semi-retired couple who love to cook for a healthy lifestyle and entertain on a grand scale wanted a large, welcoming kitchen with traditional elements inspired by Tuscan design. Access to all storage was important for the clients. In this convenient and meticulously designed pantry, step stool pull outs were added that take only 1.5” of the cabinetry space and are easy to pull, retract and hide.

A butler’s pantry is one of the thoughtful spaces that can make your home feel more livable and efficient. During a creative design build process with architects and designers, you’ll explore the design elements that will create a home that feels uniquely yours, in every detail.
