PROJECT SUMMARY
The existing small kitchen in a 60-year-old home had limited workspace, a cramped entry, and a U-shape with a column placed in the middle that significantly obstructed the overall flow of the space. The new design evolves the kitchen and the rest of the space into a style that makes sense with the original architecture of the house. The space planning balances style and universal design considerations with multiple open points of entry.
Multi-level countertops and waterfalls give the island an appealing sculptural asymmetry illuminated by a fun Sputnik chandelier. Work triangles with easy to access wall ovens are ideal for two cooks to share. The clients love to entertain and wanted to enhance their ability to engage with guests while cooking and playing their beautiful piano. Their bright new kitchen now feels dramatically more open and inviting after maximizing natural light and strategically unifying adjacent spaces.
