PROJECT SUMMARY

For a couple at retirement age who love to entertain their colleagues and family, the kitchen in their historical home was lacking in functionality and space. Over 90 years old, their home is in the Kensington District of San Diego, surrounded by other historic homes with a Spanish design influence. The couple wanted to significantly transform their kitchen while honoring the character of their home. The new design starts with the focal point of a Wolf range under a stunning custom built black stainless steel hood. The clients can now effortlessly prepare food and cook while interacting with guests. The black and white theme is repeated throughout the room, particularly in the concrete backsplash. The kitchen is now open to the dining room and family room after the removal of two walls. Natural light and circulation infuse the area with a bright sense of energy. New windows looking out on the historic neighborhood considerably brightened the sink area, framed by the bold accent of a black and white patterned backsplash. The clients are thrilled with their new open space, which easily welcomes gatherings large and small.
